Key Metroid Prime Staff Leave Retro Studios

Apr 23, 2008 5:28pm CST tags: Retro Studios, Nintendo, Metroid Prime
Shacknews has learned that several key employees from Metroid Prime series developer Retro Studios are no longer with the company.

Design director Mark Pacini, art director Todd Keller, and principal technology engineer Jack Mathews were escorted off the premises last Friday. The simultaneous departure of senior staff members is generally indicative of an intention to branch off and form a new development studio.

Contrary to other rumors, Shacknews has also learned that Retro Studios is not in danger of closing.

Founded in 1998 and purchased by Nintendo in 2001, Retro was responsible for the Metroid Prime trilogy, which concluded with the company's first Wii title last August. The studio's current project is unknown, though it has stated its intent to move away from the Metroid franchise.

Nintendo Further Explains Wii Shortages, No Plans for More First-party Studios in the US

Nov 29, 2007 1:11pm CST tags: Industry News: Console, Nintendo, Retro Studios
For the third time this week, Nintendo has spoken out on the shortages afflicting its ever-popular Wii console, which is still difficult to find on store shelves after over a year on the market.

"Typically, we'd have begun stockpiling console hardware back in August [for the holiday rush]," Nintendo senior VP George Harrison told Wired. "But this year, we were selling all the Wii we could get, and we got all the way through the summer with basically no inventory in our warehouse."

Nintendo currently produces about 1.8 million Wii units a month. About a third of those are allocated for North America, where the $250 system sold more than 350,000 units last week.

Harrison also commented that, based on the strong performance of Western third-parties and developers, the company has no incentive to acquire... Read more

Retro Clarifies Metroid Dread Reference, Depresses 2D Metroid Fans

Sep 27, 2007 1:10pm CST tags: Games: Console, Retro Studios, Metroid Prime
First Nintendo denied it, and now Retro Studios game director Mark Pacini has put one more nail in the coffin.

A long-rumored 2D Metroid handheld project, Metroid Dread was given new hope after a scanning report found in Retro's recent Metroid Prime 3--"Experiment status report update. Metroid project 'Dread' is nearing the final stages of completion."--was taken as a hint of the game's development by hopeful fans.

Not so, says Pacini.

"It's not what you think it means... it was something that was overlooked and wasn't in any way indicating anything about the handheld game," he said to MTV. "We know no information about the handheld games."

So what was the phrase doing there in the first place? Is it all... Read more

Nintendo Denies Metroid Dread Development

Sep 06, 2007 1:29pm CST tags: Games: Console, Nintendo, Retro Studios
After a cryptic message was found within Retro Studios' Metroid Prime 3--"Metroid project 'Dread' is nearing the final stages of completion."--many fans assumed that the long-rumored 2D Nintendo DS title was to be unveiled shortly.

Not so, according to the big N. "Nintendo is not making the 2D Metroid at this point in time," the console manufacturer told CVG.

While an apparent denial of the project, the specific wording leaves some waggle wiggle room for debate. Specifically, "the 2D Metroid" could imply that the game does in fact exist and that the title might simply be in development by a third party studio. Or it could be a Metroid with 3D graphics and 2D-style gameplay. Or we could simply be in denial. Retro wouldn't be cruel enough to slide that reference in for no reason, would they?

Retro to Samus: "We Should See Other People"

Aug 30, 2007 11:15am CST tags: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Retro Studios
With Metroid Prime 3: Corruption just released to glowing reviews, series developer Retro Studios has officially stated that its next project is not a Metroid game. The Prime line has been described as a trilogy in the past, and statements by Corruption director Mark Pacini have now confirmed Retro is easing off not only Prime but the overall franchise as a whole.

"We are taking a break from the Metroid series and from Samus," said Pacini in a Yahoo! Games video interview. "So I'm sure there will be other titles created, but as far as Retro Studios is concerned, we're taking a break for a little bit."

As Nintendo's premier Western development studio, it is very likely Retro has other Wii projects in the works, though none are announced. Before shaving down development to focus on the original Metroid Prime (GCN), released in 2002, Retro was working on numerous projects including the widely-known RPG Raven Blade. It is unknown if Retro will resurrect any defunct properties.

Pacini also spoke on the challenges of properly using the system's unique controller. "We spent a great deal of time and research on how the... Read more

Metroid Dread Potentially in the Works

Aug 27, 2007 3:08am CST tags: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Retro Studios
With the release of Retro Studios' excellent Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Wii) comes a tantalizing hint that the series may have yet have another 2D entry in the works.

In 2005, various print and online publications released news of Metroid Dread, a new 2D Metroid game in development by Nintendo for DS. Nintendo has always been cagey about the game, and since then the game has been inconsistently reported as being cancelled or indefinitely delayed.

However, scanning an unassuming control console in the second half of Metroid Prime 3 yields the following message: "Experiment status report update. Metroid project 'Dread' is nearing the final stages of completion." Whether this means the game is indeed close to release is unclear, but it suggests Nintendo may not yet have shelved it completely.

Shacknews has sent requests to Nintendo regarding the matter.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Review

Aug 27, 2007 2:00am CST tags: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Review, Metroid Prime, Retro Studios
Wii owners, your hardcore, breathtaking adventure is here. Retro Studios' Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is an epic experience, a fitting end to a respected trilogy, and one of the finest uses of the Wii hardware to date. Read my full review.
Of course, we already know Retro can create gorgeous worlds, and here Corruption does not disappoint. After the visually conventional space station, Samus travels to the first of several new intergalactic locales. From there, the sense of wonder and discovery never lets up.

It is a magnificent return to form for the series; Retro's art team reinforces the assertion that it is among the best in the industry. Every location simply oozes atmosphere and personality--and, despite what the game's trailers might lead you to believe, the environment and atmospere are rightly the most present characters here.

Finally: Super Metroid Hits Wii VC

Aug 20, 2007 10:10am CST tags: Sega, Virtual Console, Games: Console, Retro Studios
Boasting a gigantic 24-megabit cartridge, Super Metroid remains arguably the finest 2D Samus Aran adventure to date. Released in 1994 by developer Nintendo, the older title's story serves as a sequel--yes, you read that right--to Retro Studios' upcoming Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Nintendo releases the brilliant platforming shooter on the Wii Virtual Console today for 800 Wii Points ($8), alongside two less trumpeted titles.

Also considered one of the best of its franchise, Sega's 1993 Genesis action sequel Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master features seven stages of single-player slashing. Only you can stop Neo Zeed, for 800 Wii Points ($8).

Last and certainly least, Hudson Soft's 1989 TurboGrafx action RPG Neutopia also sees a release. Pigeonholed as a Zelda clone, the game at least looks polished, and sells for a paltry 600 Wii Points ($6).

Wii VC Gains Metroid, Shining in the Darkness, Cratermaze

Aug 13, 2007 9:56am CST tags: Virtual Console, Games: Console, Retro Studios
This week's three additions to Wii's online Virtual Console highlight the perils of life-sucking parasites, time travel, and knowing someone named "Dark Sol."

First of this week's releases is Nintendo's original NES Metroid, which has heroine Samus exploring the world of Zebes and battling against the Space Pirates and their nefarious plans for the energy-rich Metroids. It sells for 500 Wii Points ($5). The Super Nintendo Metroid entry, Super Metroid, hits the service next Monday, setting the stage for the retail release of Retro Studios' Wii shooter Metroid Prime 3: Corruption on August 27.

Fleshing out the Shining Force mythology is Climax Entertainment and Sonic! Software Planning's Genesis RPG Shining in the Darkness. Featuring a turn-based battle system, the first entry in the long-running ... Read more

Metroid, Super Metroid Coming to Wii Virtual Console for "Month of Metroid"

Aug 10, 2007 2:39pm CST tags: Virtual Console, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Retro Studios
A message today from Nintendo entitled "It's a month of Metroid!" on the Wii Shop Channel revealed the upcoming releases of Metroid and Super Metroid on the Wii Virtual Console. Metroid will be available for download Monday for 500 Wii Points ($5), with Super Metroid arriving one week later on August 20 for 800 Wii Points ($8), according to the message.

A Metroid Prime 3: Corruption preview package is also available as via the Wii Shop Channel, containing a trailer, gameplay video, and "scratch-off" game revealing different pictures of Samus. Download the videos from FileShack.

The campaign breaks a trend of a conspicuous lack of marketing for Retro Studios' shooter. Despite being hailed by press as one of the Wii's most promising core audience games (check out our preview), Nintendo has devoted little marketing muscle to the title. Metroid Prime 3 ships August 27.

The Shack's Best of E3 2007

Jul 23, 2007 11:34am CST tags: Valve, Games: PC & Console, E3, Retro Studios
We liked a lot of games at this year's E3--but we liked some better than others. The Shack's Best of E3 2007 compiles the top picks from Shack editors Chris Remo, Chris Faylor, Nick Breckon, and Carlos Bergfeld, briefly touching on what makes the games so appealing and linking to fuller coverage of each one. If you only read, uh, twenty game previews this month, let them be these twenty.
Rock Band, from Harmonix Music Systems, deserves special mention for being the only game to show up on the lists of all four editors. It's just that awesome. Other games with multiple mentions include Retro Studios' Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Valve's The Orange Box, and Irrational Games' BioShock.

E3 07: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Preview

  Jul 13, 2007 9:23pm CST tags: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, E3, E3 07, Metroid Prime, Retro Studios
During a Nintendo meeting at E3 this week, I was able to get hands-on impressions of Retro Studios' impressive upcoming Wii action/adventure sequel Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. The good news: it is slick as all hell. The bad news: it's not out until August. Read all about it..
Gorgeous touches abound on both small and large scales. Skyboxes are beautiful eruptions of unearthly color, serving as an excellent backdrop for sequences such as grappling beam rollercoaster rides. Character models are clearly using more polygons and higher-resolution textures, leading to a cleaner look overall. When using the slightly darker scan visor, Samus' face becomes lightly visible in reflection, highlighting the inherent solitude so crucial to the affecting atmosphere of Metroid games.

Good Mourning, Nintendo Fans: No Metroid Prime 3 Online, Smash Bros. Not Playable at E3

Jul 03, 2007 11:31am CST tags: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Nintendo, E3, Metroid Prime, Retro Studios
Bad news regarding highly anticipated Wii titles is hovering above Tuesday like a dark Lakitu.

In a somewhat unsurprising, but still discouraging announcement, Retro Studios CEO Michael Kelbaugh tells GamePro that his studio's upcoming title Metroid Prime 3: Corruption will not feature online multiplayer.

"It's something we talked about early on, but we only have so many resources. We opted to devote those resources to making a better single-player experience," he said.

There is no word on any offline multiplayer mode, although Nintendo's website lists the title as supporting only one player. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is now due to ship on August 27, a week later than originally ... Read more

Metroid Prime 3 Delayed, Screens Released

Jul 02, 2007 8:44pm CST tags: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Delay, Metroid Prime, Retro Studios
Metroid Prime 3: CorruptionWith Retro Studios' anticipated Wii shooter Metroid Prime 3 originally slated for an August 20 launch, Nintendo today moved the release of the game to August 27. The news was included at the end of an announcement detailing the October 1 launch date for The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (NDS).

Perhaps to atone for the minor delay, Nintendo also released a slew of screenshots and character art for the game.

Nintendo Wii Impressions, Wii/DS Media

May 25, 2007 12:00am CST tags: Games: Console, Nintendo, Trailer, Screenshots, 5th Cell, Retro Studios
Earlier this week, Nintendo held a press summit to show off some upcoming first- and third-party games headed to Wii and Nintendo DS in 2007. Sadly absent from the event were the company's heaviest hitters--namely Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 Corruption, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass--all of which are likely to show up at this year's E3 given the recent news that all four games will ship this year.

Despite the lack of marquee titles, Nintendo had some solid offerings playable. Contributor Tracy Erickson attended the event for some hands-on impressions of Next Level Games' Mario Strikers Charged (Wii), Visual Concepts and Blue Castle Games' The Bigs (Wii), Genius Sonority's Pokemon Battle Revolution (Wii), and EA Montreal's Boogie (Wii). Check out his report. Notably, two of the four games, Mario Strikers Charged and Pokemon Battle Revolution, feature long-awaited online multiplayer.

Mario Strikers Charged Multiplayer is where this young series is really looking to move forward, promising to be among the first wave of online-enabled Wii titles. A leaderboard will track players, rewarding points for wins and goals. Cumulative records are posted to the board; additionally, the overall performer of each day will be recognized as the "Striker of the Day." Nintendo hosted a small online tournament with players back at the headquarters and, based on that live demonstration, the game runs well in head-to-head matches.

Late Night Consoling

  • Metroid Prime 3 date, Wii/DS schedule announced

    [wii] [ds]

Nintendo today sent out the planned North American release schedule for Wii and Nintendo DS games during the months of July, August, and September. Most notable among the list's revelations is the announcement that Retro Studios' Metroid Prime 3 Corruption (Wii), which previously had no stated release projection since it was pushed past its initial status as a Wii launch title, will be released on August 20, 2007. Next Level Games' soccer sequel Mario Strikers Charged (Wii) is being released on July 30, 2007; the game ships this week in Europe. Kuju Entertainment's Battalion Wars 2 (Wii) is set to launch during the month of September.

On the Wii third party front, Electronic Arts plans to release EA Redwood Shores' Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 and EA Tiburon/EA Canada's Madden NFL 08 in August, with EA Montreal's rhythm-based Boogie (see our Boogie first look) shipping some time during the fall. Outpost Kaloki X (X360) developer Wahoo Studios will release its Space Station Tycoon in August, courtesy of Namco Bandai Games. Gearbox Studios' Brothers in Arms Double Time is slated to be released by Ubisoft in September.

Not all third party games were included on the list. Rockstar Toronto's brutal horror game Manhunt 2 is set to ship July 10, while Capcom's puzzle-based adventure Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbados' Treasure has a general fall release projection.

The Nintendo DS lineup shows more heavy-hitters from third parties. In July, Electronic Arts plans to ship EA Japan's SimCity DS. Eidos will release ODenis Studio's action/strategy game Glory Days 2 (comes with optional 3D glasses! seriously!) during the same month. On August 14, Square Enix will release Brownie Brown's real-time strategy game Heroes of Mana. The strategy genre will also get entries of the turn-based variety that month when Atlus releases Image Epoch's Luminous Arc and THQ releases Team17's Worms: Open Warfare 2. Capcom will keep on plugging with Mega Man in August when it releases the three versions of its Mega Man Star Force. Arcade-style action fans will be treated to Coyote Developments' top-down shooter Operation: Vietnam, released by Majesco that same month.

Following in September will be the next installment in Capcom's Phoenix Wright saga, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trials and Tribulations. That month, Ubisoft will release Plato's sublime guitar simulator and music creation tool, Jam Sessions.

On the first party front, Nintendo will release Jupiter's duotone puzzle game Picross DS on July 30. Nintendo's Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day will follow on August 20. Paon's DK Jungle Climber, a followup to the studio's Game Boy Advance game DK King of Swing, will be released on September 10. Finally, Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol, Skip Ltd.'s sequel to its original Chibi-Robo on GameCube, is set for release on September 24.

For the full provided list, including numerous other third-party Wii and Nintendo DS games, check out Nintendo's press release.

  • I would put GTA4 in what I call a "lockbox"

    [ps3] [xbox360]

Rockstar Games has announced plans for a special edition set of Rockstar North's immensely anticipated Grand Theft Auto IV (PS3, X360). Grand Theft Auto IV Special Edition will ship not in a DVD case but in a metal safety deposit box, and will include the game as well as an art book, a partial soundtrack, a Rockstar-branded duffel bag, and a Rockstar-branded keychain on which one may keep the keys to the lockbox.

Grand Theft Auto IV Special Edition will ship alongside the standard games for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 16 in North America and October 19 in Europe. It will be priced at $89.99 in the US.

  • Riddick to be reprised for current gen

    [ps3] [xbox360]

Last week, UK trade publication MCV reported that Starbreeze's highly-revewed movie-licensed game The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay (Xbox, PC) would be heading to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The news was soon confirmed by Starbreeze, which stated that the game would be entitled Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena and released later in 2007.

Further details were revealed by Pete Wanat, executive producer at publisher Vivendi Games, this weekend on SpikeTV's television program GameHead. Though Assault on Dark Athena is a remake of Escape from Butcher Bay, it will feature new content in addition to its boosted visuals, giving players story extending beyond the events of the source game.

Starbreeze is currently also working on the comic-adapted action game The Darkness for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Shacknews has contacted Vivendi Games with further inquiries.

  • Police, Extreme, Poison to become Guitar Heroes

    [ps2]

Following up on its initial announcement and seven-track reveal of Harmonix's Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s (PS2), publisher Activision today revealed seven new tracks that will be featured in the slightly renamed Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s. All seven tracks are listed as having been "made famous by" their respective performance artists, suggesting that they are cover tracks rather than original recordings.

The newly announced tracks are The Police's "Synchronicity II," Skid Row's "18 and Life," Billy Squier's "Lonely is the Night," Eddie Money's "Shaken," Faster Pussycat's "Bathroom Wall," Extreme's "Play With Me" (best known from the climax of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure), and Poison's "Nothing But a Good Time."

In unrelated news, Dan Connors, CEO of Sam & Max episodic series developer Telltale Games, once stated during a Shacknews interview, "Heavy metal died because Poison didn't listen to its fans," while speaking on the necessities of developers listening to their core audiences.

Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s is set to ship for PlayStation 2 this summer.

  • Rush 'n Attack, Xevious head to XBLA

    [xbox360]

In another dual-release week, Konami's action platformer Rush'n Attack and Namco's Galaga-based top-down shooter Xevious will be this week's Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays games. Rush'n Attack will include both local and online cooperative and versus play as well as the option to play with updated graphics. Both games will feature online leaderboards and a total of 200 available Gamerscore points. According to Microsoft, Xbox Live Arcade's Xevious is the first 100% arcade-perfect port of Xevious.

Rush'n Attack and Xevious will be available via the Xbox Live Marketplace this Wednesday, May 23 for 400 Microsoft Points ($5) each.

  • Virtual Console sees Kong, Rage, Lazers

    [wii]

This week's spate of three Virtual Console games exhibits a higher average name recognition than most, with Donkey Kong Country 2, Streets of Rage 2, and Blazing Lazers all making their way to the Wii's download service.

Rare's sidescroller sequel Donkey Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest (Super NES, 1-2 players), first released in 1995, is available for the standard Super NES price of 800 Wii Points ($8). Sega-AM2 and Ancient's well-loved brawler Streets of Rage 2 (Genesis, 1-2 players), first released in 1993, goes for 800 Wii Points ($8). Finally, Compile's classic shoot-em-up Blazing Lazers (TurboGrafx-16, 1 player), is priced at 600 Wii Points ($6).

As usual, check back tomorrow for the Shack's reviews on all three new Virtual Console games.

  • XNA game coming to XBLA?

    [xbox360]

This week, the internets came upon the official site for a game called Eternity's Child, which claims to be "coming [to Xbox 360] this year for Xbox Live Arcade." The game appears to be a 2D platformer with an outlined 2D style, set in a fantasy world. Further investigation turns up a post on Gamertag Radio, where site co-founder Godfree claims to have spoken with developer Luc Bernard. Apparently, Bernard is creating the game using Microsoft's recently released XNA Game Studio Express environment, which would make Eternity's Child one of the first--if not the first--XNA-created games to be commercially released. Bernard noted to GTR that "Eternity's Child" is a working title; the game, a "fairy tale for adults," is hand animated, with standard 2D platforming gameplay. Several screenshots were also released.

Shacknews has contacted Microsoft for further information, but has not yet received an official response.

  • Naruto even more ultimate on PS2

    [ps2]

Publisher Namco Bandai Games has revealed that a sequel to its anime-based Naruto: Ultimate Ninja (PS2) will be released this year. Fittigly entitled Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 2, the game will again be developed by CyberConnect2. The upcoming head to head fighting game will feature over 30 playable characters in 16 stages, with a full story mode spanning 60 missions. Ultimate Ninja 2 also features various mini-games, a practice mode, and unlockable content. "'NARUTO: Ultimate Ninja 2' delivers exactly what fans are craving, intense head-to-head ninjutsu battles and story driven gameplay" said Namco Bandai localization VP Naruo Uchida. "The first title was a monstrous success and the bar has been raised even higher for the second game."

CyberConnect2's Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 2 is expected to ship for PlayStation 2 in summer 2007.

Traveller's Tales, the UK-based studio best known for its well received and bestselling LEGO Star Wars series, has acquired independent developer Embryonic Studios. Embryonic was founded in 2005 by Nick Elms, former founder of Digital Anvil and Warthog Games, now Gizmondo Europe. Elms has also worked for now defunct Origin Systems on games such as Times of Lore and Privateer 2: The Darkening. Embryonic employs 20 people at its Bollington, Cheshire UK offices. The recently formed company has yet to release a full game, but did work on the Xbox port of 2K Sports' 49Games-developed Torino 2006.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. "We are delighted to have completed the acquisition," said Traveller's Tales' Jon Burton. "Embryonic possess a very talented workforce that will help drive Traveller’s Tales on to further success."

  • Bully 2 unlikely?

    [ps2]

After being the subject of months of intense controversy, Rockstar Vancouver's schoolyard action/adventure game Bully (PS2) was released last October to exceptionally strong critical reception. It seems to have sold well, though perhaps not well enough to justify another game in the franchise. Speaking to GamePolitics, noted Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter estimates that based on its performance so far, the game will end up with sales around 800,000, which while strong are likely not enough to provide a significant return on the development investment. "My guess is that the company did no better than to break even," said Pachter. "I would NOT expect a sequel."

Publisher Rockstar Games has declined to comment on the matter.

Wii $249 on November 19

Sep 14, 2006 11:11am CST tags: XBLA, Games: Console, Sony, Retro Studios
Nintendo has officially revealed the North and South American release date and retail price for its upcoming Wii console. The machine will launch November 19, two days after Sony's PlayStation 3 hits stores, for a suggested retail price of $249.99. Included in the package are a Remote and Nunchuk controller combination and the accessible sports game collection Wii Sports. Since its initial showing at E3, Wii Sports has had two additions beyond the core tennis, baseball and golf games; it now includes bowling and boxing as well.

Thirty titles will be available for Wii between its launch and the end of calendar 2006; a specific launch lineup was not announced, and may not be yet finalized, but approximately half of that number is expected to be available on launch day. Nintendo will be keeping its per-game price point at the traditional $49.99; other publishers are of course able to set their own prices, but are likely to follow Nintendo's lead. The system will launch with 30 virtual console titles across the various legacy systems supported by the service. Much like Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade service, users will buy points that can be spent to purchase these games online. However, Nintendo seems to be using a direct cents-to-points ratio; for example, a 2000 point point card will be available for $20. NES games will run 500 Wii points ($5), SNES games 800 ($8), and Nintendo 64 games 1000 ($10). Price schemes for SEGA Genesis and TurboGrafx-16 games were not announced.

Wii will feature a variety of entertainment and communication features by way of its "Wii Channel" features. These includes a news channel, a global weather forecast channel, the previously announced Opera web browser, and a photo channel used to organize, display, and edit digital photos. Details regarding these channels are available at Nintendo's newly launched Wii official site. The Japanese site also contains numerous videos of the channels in action.

Former launch title Metroid Prime 3: Corruption from Retro Studios has now been officially moved to 2007. While The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess remains a Wii launch title, the GameCube version of the game has been pushed back to December 2006. Nintendo also announced a Wii version of Big Brain Academy, which first came to Nintendo DS.
