A demo for Gas Powered Games' PC action-RPG Space Siege is now available to download on FileShack.

The single-player demo clocks in at 935mb.

Space Siege is currently scheduled for an August release.

New Space Siege Trailer Available

Sega has released a new trailer for Space Siege (PC), the sci-fi RPG in development at Gas Powered Games. The trailer runs for about a minute, mixing cinematic and gameplay footage. The game is set for an August release.

I have finally managed to shove off the crushing burden of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, leaving our intrepid reporter Nick Breckon to shoulder that considerable weight. In addition to his general show impressions, he checked out Gas Powered Games' upcoming PC action RPG Space Siege and spoke with lead designer Daniel Achterman.
Space Siege will be an accessible game, he said. It's kinda like watching a movie, he said. It will be a simple game. It will be a scripted game. Comparisons were made to Hellgate.

This isn't going to fly with my readership, I thought. Not in a million light years.

But then, maybe it will. Achtherman explained that the idea with Space Siege is to create a very focused 12-hour action RPG. As we talked, games like Portal and Half-Life and BioShock kept coming up, great games that largely offer a very specific, scripted experience, and do so within a budget of less than 20 hours. Developer Gas Powered Games plans to expand upon the dungeon-crawling action RPG gameplay it employed in its Dungeon Siege series with its upcoming Space Siege. In a partnership with publisher Sega, the Redmond-based studio will deliver Space Siege for PC in Q1 2008.

Space Siege thrusts its protagonist Seth Walker into what is claimed to be a dynamic storyline set aboard a colony ship housing the last remaining members of humanity. Gameplay hinges on the continual choice of retaining Walker's humanity or adding on cybernetic upgrades that afford increased abilities but damage Walker's relationships with his fellow humans. That choice plays into the narrative elements of the game, affecting NPC reactions and plot paths.
