Time Crisis 4 Review

Nov 21, 2007 7:14pm CST tags: Namco, Time Crisis 4, Review
For your last bit of pre-Thanksgiving content, Chris Remo shot his way through the console version of Namco Bandai's newest light-gun shooter, Time Crisis 4. How does this GunCon3-packed game fare on the PS3? Read on to find out.
Continues are precious in this game because, thanks to the IR-based aiming and lack of a reticule, regardless of how well you know a particular encounter, you are almost guaranteed to lose lives when you pop out of cover, see an axe hurling at your face, and lack the ability to sharpshoot it out of the air because the absence of a reticule means you haven't gotten your bearings yet.

NAME There wasn't much news in this short work week, so for today's laid-back episode we mainly talked about what we've been playing. Chris Remo, Steve Gibson, Chris Faylor, and Nick Breckon discuss Time Crisis 4 and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune on PS3, Mass Effect on Xbox 360, Crysis on PC, the just-released Rock Band, and Call of Duty 4.

We wrap it up with some reader mail harkening back to the good old days of competitive Quake, and some discussion about Shacknews' ad policy. While listening to our reader mail, follow along with these pages of classic Quakeworld demos and Quake poll results.

Our friends at Namco Bandai have unleashed a screenshot bonanza showcasing their fall lineup.

The media barrage illustrates the third-person action-adventure Soul Calibur Legends (Wii), the not-so-friendly skies of Project Aces' Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation (X360), a rolling good time in Beautiful Katamari (X360), and the legions of light gun bullet sponges in Time Crisis 4 (PS3).

Developed internally at Namco Bandai, all four titles release this fall.

In a slew of press releases, Namco Bandai has today issued new details and media of many of its recently announced games.

Namco's Beautiful Katamari, the latest in the quirky roll-'em-up series, is now set for release this fall on the Xbox 360. While originally planned for release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, there was no mention of the Sony platform in the press release today, apparently confirming rumors of the platform change from earlier in the week. While a GameSpot preview suggested that the game will be made available on Xbox Live Arcade, that information has since been retracted. Shacknews has contacted Namco for clarification on the subject, but has not yet received a reply. New screenshots and artwork of the game were sent along by Namco.

Namco also officially expounded on Time Crisis 4, confirming both the game and the next-generation Guncon for the PlayStation 3. In addition ... Read more

Namco Bandai's lightgun shooter Time Crisis 4 will be making its way to the PlayStation 3, according to the latest edition of Famitsu. The game will reportedly feature a direct port of the arcade title, dubbed the "AC mode," in addition to a "Mission mode." No further details on either mode of play have been released.

Famitsu also divulged that a lightgun peripheral will be released to stores in conjunction with the game, tentatively titled the Guncon 3. As traditional light-emitting guns do not work with newer LCD televisions, it is... Read more
